Thermo-Modified Wooden Beehives and Parts
In this section, we present beehives and beehive components manufactured from thermally modified wood. This material is produced from natural timber treated at elevated temperatures in a controlled process without the use of chemical additives. As a result, the internal structure of the wood is changed, leading to lower moisture absorption, improved dimensional stability, and increased resistance to fungi, mould, and biological degradation.
Thermally modified wood also has reduced thermal conductivity and shows more predictable behaviour in outdoor conditions. Owing to these characteristics, it is commonly used for exterior applications such as façade cladding, decking, outdoor constructions, and high-humidity environments including saunas and similar facilities. These properties make it suitable for beekeeping products intended for long-term exterior use.
